1 in 4 adults will suffer from a diagnosable Mental Illness in any given year according to the CDC. 1 in 4! Using this number, open your calculator and do a little math. If your campus has 14000 students you will have 3500 of them possibly having an issue during this school year. Throw on top of that, faculty, staff and support people, now what is the number? Amazing isn't it, yet we almost ignore mental health completely

Mental Health on Campus should be a first priority for not only the administration, it should be a priority for all persons on campus. Your school has one main function, to teach. Your brain is the only part of your body that will store the information you learn. Does it not make cense then that we would want to make sure that this tool is in the best shape possible?

Brain Health... that is what we hope to help you achieve. It's amazing what this little 3lb blob of goo can do when it is healthy!

Exercise your brain while you surf this site.....

This is an exercise that can strengthen neural connections and even create new ones. Switch the hand you are using to control the computer mouse. Use the hand you normally do NOT use. What do you notice? Is it harder to be precise and accurate with your motions? Do you feel like you did when you were first learning to tie your shoelaces? If you are feeling uncomfortable and awkward don’t worry, your brain is learning a new skill. Try other neural building and strengthening exercises with everyday movements. Use your opposite hand to brush your teeth, dial the phone or operate the TV remote.

Mental Health, It's not just for crazy people anymore. Never before has a statement ever been so true. We are seeing all across our country an epidemic of young people on college campuses with Mental Health issues.

This web site has been created in order to show these students that they are not alone. Alone is the feeling that many of them have, and it is a feeling that needs to be addressed in order to help those in need seek help.

MHOC hopes to become a major portal for students, faculty, staff and parents. Please help us spread the word about this site by clicking on the "refer a friend" buttons posted throughout.
